Lost and found in trains - part III

15 June 2025

We are at the edge of summer now. It's time to check how the lost items are doing. I wanted to make this post kinda interacitve so the plots will be updated every midnight (I hope).

Once again I give the standard plot of number of lost items a day. number_of_lost_items It is still hard to say anything about the seasonality. The number of lost items is still slowly growing, although the grow slows down. I hope we will see the plateou soon.

Some interesitng peaks are still visible. For istance, there is visible dip in the middle of November (11th of November is a Independece Day in Poland and this year we had a loooong weekend) and in the second half of December (25th of December is a Christmas Day and most people travel back home). Easter is not really visible since in Poland we get only one day free which is Monday after the Easter Sunday.

Friday ultimalty wins with the other days of the week and the significant loser is still Tuesday. Pro-tip: if you don't want to lose your belonings - travel on Tuesday. day_of_week

The rest of the figures gets updated, but the overall picture is still the same. Kraków and cloaths still dominate. cities cities

One more thing: we have never plotted this data on the map. Now we do! It is clearly visible where are the InterCity rails and big cities.
